Plein air painters, which is French for “open air”, are artists who prefer to paint outdoors rather than in a studio. Plein air painters are a great way of meeting new people with a common interest. It also gives you the opportunity to capture nature as it is seen.
The Middle Tennessee Chestnut Group is one example of such a group. It was formed in 1991 as a result of local art classes and concern for the preservation of open spaces in Middle Tennessee. Check them out at www.chestnutgroup.org
